Yearly Reminder: Price Adjustments = Free Money!

Just sharing this before the holidays this year!

Keep checking Target after your large holiday purchases. If an item you already bought goes on sale within 14 days, you can get a price adjustment. If you bought it on the website, you don’t even have to go to the store. All you have to do is chat with customer service and they will credit you the difference and it takes less than a few minutes!

My reminder from last year: I was looking through my account on Target.com when I noticed that a toy I was going to buy for Christmas (but was sold out) was in my “saved for later” area. I don’t know why it was still in the “saved for later” items, because I purchased it a few weeks after Christmas. I paid full price (which I hate to do) but it was finally back in-stock and I didn’t want to risk it selling out again. Today I noticed it was 50% off!! So, I paid literally double what I should have. I figured since it was unopened, I could just return that one and buy a new cheaper one. Then I thought… maybe Target can save me the hassle and just refund me some of the money without me having to go through that process. So I clicked the “Chat Now” button. After confirming my order number & account info, typing 2 quick sentences, they told me they are refunding me the difference. Target’s official price adjustment policy is 14 days. So if you buy something and it goes on-sale within 14 days, they will just refund you the difference. I feel like this is a lesson I’ve learned in the past, but I just never remember. I’m going to make more of an effort to check, especially after birthdays or holidays when I’ve bought a decent amount of stuff. I also learned that Target will price match other stores, so an item can go on sale somewhere else, and if you already bought it at Target, they can price match it. Good to know!
